Village Election Procedure:

Village of Williamsville elections are generally held in odd years, on the third Tuesday in June. Elected officials take office the first Monday in July. Full terms of office are four years each. There are no term limits. The Village Board consists of four Trustees and the Mayor. Also elected every four years is the term of Village Justice.

The election officer is Village Administrator/Clerk-Treasurer. For information on running for office, visit the NYS Board of Elections website at http://www.elections.ny.gov/RunningOffice.html. Elected Village officials are (1) Mayor, (4) Trustees, and (1) Justice.

2027 Village Election: Tuesday, June 15, 2027

Hours of Voting: 12:00 – 9:00 p.m.

Offices to be Filled: Mayor, Justice, and Two (2) Trustees for terms of four (4) years each

Polling Place: Village Hall, 5565 Main Street, Williamsville

Parking: Municipal parking lot at rear of building

Handicap Access: Elevator at rear entrance of Village Hall

Eligibility to Vote in a Village Election:

  • Must be a registered voter in Erie County. For voter registration information visit http://www.elections.erie.gov.
  • Must be a Village resident for at least 30 days prior to Election Day.
  • Last day individuals may register with the Erie County Board of Elections to be eligible to vote in the 2027 Village election is Friday, June 4, 2027. [Election Law §15-118(2)]

Qualifications to vote by Absentee Ballot:

  • Unavoidably absent from Erie County on day of Election, or
  • Unable to appear at the polls due to illness or disability, or
  • A patient in a Veterans’ Administration Hospital, or
  • Detained in jail awaiting Grand Jury action or confined in prison after conviction for an offense other than a felony.

Absentee ballots will not start to be mailed out until the end of May. Last day for Village Clerk to RECEIVE applications for absentee ballots to be MAILED to qualified voters is Tuesday, June 8, 2027. Last day for Village Clerk to receive PERSONAL applications for an absentee ballot from applicant or applicant’s agent is Monday, June 14, 2027.

Important Update Regarding New USPS Postmark Practices

As of December 2025, the U.S. Postal Service instituted the Deliver for America Plan which includes how frequently mail is transported to regional processing centers where postmarks are applied. As a result, some mail may no longer receive a postmark dated the same day it is dropped off or collected, which could be problematic for time-sensitive filings and payments. It is estimated this could cause a 1-3 day delay before the official postmark date, impacting deadlines for taxes, bills, and ballots.

Ballots & Postmarks
US postmark is required as proof of mailing date. Please take note of these new postmark rules to avoid invalid mail-in or absentee ballots. To ensure ballots are received before the due date:

  • Go to a USPS retail counter and request a manual postmark stamp at the counter.
